My experience timeline is special education teacher, instructional coach, mathematics supervisor, curriculum and instruction director, and superintendent (all in the Mount Holly Township School District, NJ). In my 5th year as superintendent, I have noticed continuous change in teaching mathematics for the better. However, the culture of middle school math in many schools has not shifted toward the research-based best practices fast enough. I am tired of waiting. Starting with my district, I am leading a mathematics achievement plan to ensure a sustainable cultural shift in teaching and learning math for sustainable growth.
