Family Engagement Coordinator
Gloria Ruiz has worked in the public sector for the past seven years, most recently working in a newly created position as the Family Engagement Coordinator at the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED). In this role, she serves as a direct point of contact between New Mexico families and the NMPED providing information and resources to parents and families to support student success.
As a native New Mexican and daughter of a Mexican immigrant, Gloria is passionate about advocating for every child and helping families overcome the barriers that prevent them from being engaged in their child’s education.
Gloria earned a B.A. at New Mexico Highlands University in with emphasis in Elementary Education. She also holds an A.A in Psychology and certificate in Nutrition from the Santa Fe Community College.
During her spare time, Gloria enjoys spending time with her husband and two children fishing, gardening, and playing baseball and softball.
